Privacy Policy

Who we are

NuWay ("the app", "we", "us") is an iPhone and Apple Watch application that helps travelers navigate cities with a compass-style pointer. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, why, and how. If anything here is unclear, email us at hello@nuway.place and we'll explain.

What the app uses

Location

The app requires access to your device's location so that it can:

• Rotate the 3D compass arrow toward your selected destination.
• Calculate the distance between you and the place you're walking to.
• Show nearby points of interest on the Explore map.

Your location is read on the device, used in the moment, and not transmitted to any server controlled by us. We don't store your location history, and we don't share it with third parties. You can revoke location permission at any time from the iOS Settings app.

Motion and heading

On Apple Watch, the app reads the built-in compass (heading) sensor so the pointer can rotate as you turn your wrist. This data is processed on the device and never leaves it.

Places you save

The places, folders, and preferences you create inside the app are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you have iCloud enabled for the app, that data may also be backed up to your personal iCloud account under Apple's privacy terms — we never see it.

Third-party services

Apple Maps (MapKit)

The Explore map and basic place search are provided by Apple's MapKit framework. When you search or pan the map, anonymized requests are sent to Apple under Apple's privacy policy. Apple does not share your Apple ID with us and does not associate map requests with your identity.

Google Places

When you open the detail view of a place to see photos, opening hours, or ratings, the app sends a request to Google's Places API for that specific place. This request contains the place identifier and technical metadata required by the API. It does not contain your name, email, or your precise location history. Google's handling of this request is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Results are cached locally on your device for up to seven days so that repeat visits don't trigger new requests.

Apple StoreKit

Premium subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple's StoreKit and the App Store. We never see your payment information, credit card, or Apple ID. We only receive an anonymous entitlement flag telling the app whether your subscription is active.

Data we do not collect

To be explicit, NuWay does not collect:

• Your name, email address, or phone number.
• Your contact list, calendar, or photo library.
• Your location history or movement trails.
• Device identifiers for advertising purposes.
• Analytics events tied to your identity.

We may use aggregate, anonymized crash reports from Apple's built-in TestFlight / App Store diagnostics to fix bugs. These reports are opt-in and managed by Apple.

Children

NuWay is rated 4+ and suitable for general audiences. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, regardless of age.

Your rights

Because the app doesn't collect personal data on our side, there's no profile to access, export, or delete on a server — it all lives on your device. To remove all app data, simply uninstall NuWay. If you have iCloud backup enabled, you can manage your app data from iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.

If you believe the app is handling data in a way inconsistent with this policy, email hello@nuway.place and we'll respond within a reasonable time.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, surface a notice in the app. Continued use of NuWay after an update means you accept the revised policy.
